The Church between 1918 - 2018

The church of Saint Nicholas, the university’s chapel (The Old Russian church), was finished in 1909 by Italian and Russian workers.

The building’s appearance is a result of an art nouveau synthesis of the Russian architectural tradition of wall and wood, an unique style that you will discover in this Media Gallery.

Community life

In January 1992, at the request of the University students of Bucharest, Saint Nicholas Church became the University’s chapel, the first church in Romania after 1990 that had this purpose. Under the spiritual guidance of Father Vasile Gavrila, the University’s chapel has a spiritual program which is interwoven with cultural and social activities, through which we try to respond to students’ needs, mainly young people, as you will discover in this Media Gallery.
