RESTORATION
The University chapel Saint Nicholas,  (The Old Russian Church), the last foundation of Tsar Nikolai, built in 1909, is a monumental construction made in the late eclectic style.  It is a historic edifice unique in Romania, being one of the touristic objectives in Bucharest for many travelers.

It is a construction in a trefoil layout crowned with seven towers, with onion domes, among which the main tower reaches the height of 35 m.

Inside, the church has mural painting, while outside the facades are made of brick, ceramic plates and ornaments of natural stone and iron.

During World War I and World War II the church suffered severe damage, being partially restored in 1948 and 1967.

With public funding from the Cultural Ministry, as well as from private donations, we have finished the consolidation and restoration work of the main tower, as well as the mural painting’s restoration, with a total cost of 1.173.372 lei.

Work in progress:

After finishing the interior of the church, we have started to develop an exterior work site and built a scaffold because during the consolidation process we have discovered advanced deteriorations of the roof and of the church facades.
